Registering for an e-Learning Class:

Where can I find out about the e-Learning classes offered at North Seattle Community College?

For more information about classes offered please go to Virtual College Courses and Class page and click on the quarter you would like to enroll this will give you a current listing of the courses offered by quarter.  If you find courses that you want to register for go to Current and Former Students Home Page which will give you the information you will need to register.

If you are a new student the North Seattle web site has steps to apply and enroll for new students. You will find downloadable forms and instructions to help you enroll and register for classes.  You will receive a Student ID number by email that will enable you to register online or in person.  The Student ID number is required for registration.

If you have previously attended North Seattle you will be able to use your original Student ID number to register for classes - if this ID is not working you need to contact North Seattle Registration so that your number can be updated in the system.   Online registration is done at the Current and Former Students Home Page.

I have tried to register online and my SID is not working.

When you are accepted at North Seattle you will receive a SID (Student ID number). This is a nine digit number that will allow you to access your student information and to register online. Make sure you are at online student services  and that you have entered your SID correctly. Your pin number is initially your birth date and if you have changed this it is important to keep it in a safe place and do not share it with others. There is also a possibility at the time you were trying to register there was an increased number of students accessing the site and the server may be running slower. If you are still experiencing difficulty with online registration you need to contact Registration at (206) 934-3663 for assistance.

You receive a message that says “You need a registration appointment

Another problem that may be encountered in registering online is that the student registration page does not recognize your SID number. This may happen because you number is not enabled in the North Seattle system. Contact Registration at (206) 527-3663 for assistance.
This message may also occur because your scheduled registration appointment is at a later date,  currently enrolled students have priority over newly enrolled students. You can check on the date and time for your registration appointment by selecting that option at online student services

If you have questions about certain programs or if a specific class will satisfy a requirement a good step may be to come in and talk to an advisor or go to the North Seattle Advising Center  for assistance.  The e-Learning office is not able to advise students on their specific educational requirements but can offer general information about the courses offered.

I have found a class I want to take, how do I add an e-Learning Class?

You can do this at the North Seattle Online Services and select “Register for Classes”.
You can also register in person by going to Registration located in the College Center building on the second floor. Before coming to campus please confirm your Registration Appointment by going to North Seattle Online Services. You will not be allowed to register until after your appointed time.

The class I want to register for is full how do I get on the waiting list?

Wait list options are found on the North Seattle web site.   If the class is full you also have the option of going to the orientation meeting or contacting the instructor by email to request that they sign an overload. Permission in the form of an email from the instructor will suffice as a signature.  In the case of overloads, instructor permission is required to add for all classes. It is assumed that many e-Learning students will not be registering in person but will use the online services located on the North Seattle site. Please send an email request to your instructor to give permission for an overload. Your instructor will then send their permission in the form of an email to registration [email protected] with cc: to the student.  Please be careful to include your student name and SID in your request for permission so your instructor can send this to Registration.

I want to add a class after the quarter has started?

After the 4th day of the quarter and in the case of overloads, instructor permission is required to add any course.  Please email the instructor and request that the instructor email their signature of permission to the attention of Registration [email protected] with a cc. to yourself or you can bring a copy of this email to in-person registration. To confirm online registration contact  Registration at
(206) 934-3664 to confirm your registration or you can also check your online schedule by going to Online Services.  For more information regarding Adds/Drops/Withdrawals please see the North Seattle web site.

How can I pay for my e-Learning class?

It is possible to pay online when you register just select this option when you are registering for your class at Online Services.  You will need to use your credit card for this payment. At the end of the transaction you will receive an authorization number and it is important to note this number for future reference. You can also confirm your payment with the college cashier’s office (206) 527-3627.

You can also pay by check by mailing the payment to North Seattle Community College, Attn: Cashier, 9600 College Way North, Seattle WA 98103-3514. Please enclose a copy of your registration form indicating your fees along with your check. This will ensure your payment. You can also request that the Cashier’s office send you a receipt of payment.

If you are able to come to campus to pay your tuition the Cashier’s office is located in the College Center on the second floor to the south of Registration. Their office hours are Mon & Tues 7:30AM to 6:30PM. Wed through Fri 7:30AM to 4:30PM.

North Seattle e-Learning also qualifies for financial aid. You need to contact the North Seattle Financial Aid office for more information – (206) 934-3688 or on the web at North Seattle Financial Aid. Financial Aid requires confirmation of your enrollment. You can do this by contacting your instructor in person for a signature. (This can be done at the class orientation or by contacting the instructor during their on campus office hours if available.) You can also contact your instructor via email. When your instructor has confirmed your enrollment (usually by your accessing the virtual classroom) they will contact the financial aid office to confirm your enrollment. If you are getting financial aid from another college you need to contact that office for instructions.

It is very important to confirm your payment of tuition and fees. Tuition is due 7 business days after you first register or before the first day of the quarter, whichever comes first. Failure to do this will cause you to be dropped from your class and you may not be able to reenroll. For more information on tuition and fees please go to North Seattle tuition policy page.  Also you can go to the Virtual College tuition page

If you register for a class after the quarter begins it is essential that you pay for the course at the time of registration or you will be dropped.  For more information about payment requirements and options please see the North Seattle site

I am a state employee and would like to use tuition wavier how do I register?

The policy at North is to allow state employees to register during the second week of the quarter and get a reduced tuition for no more than 6 credits. There is always a possibility that the course will be filled so you need to check on the enrollment status.
You need to contact the instructor by email explain your situation and request his permission to register. If the course offers an orientation session you could get the instructors permission at this time and then you will need to wait until the 6th day to register or you will forfeit your tuition wavier. If you can come to campus with your signed employee wavier to register that may be helpful otherwise you need to send the form electronically along with the instructors permission to register to registration [email protected]. For more information please go to the North Seattle tuition wavier policy page.
