| Registering
for a Distance Learning Class:
Where
can I find out about the Distance classes offered at North Seattle
Community College? For
more information about classes offered please go to http://www.virtualcollege.org/course/index.html.
If you find courses that you want to register for go to North
Seattles home page
http://www.northseattle.edu/enroll/
which will give you the information you will need to register.
If
you are a new student the North Seattle web site has a downloadable
application form that you can fill out http://www.northseattle.edu/start/
I have tried to
register online
and my SID is not working.
When you are accepted at North Seattle you
will receive a SID (Student ID number).
This is a nine digit number that will allow you to access your
student information and to register online.
Make sure you are at the
Student Kiosk http://www.northseattle.edu/kiosk/
and that you have entered your SID correctly.
Your pin number is initially your birth date and if you have
changed this it is important to keep it in a safe place and do not share
it with others. There is also a possibility at the time you were trying to
register there was an increased number of students accessing the site
and the server may be running slower.
If you are still experiencing difficulty with online registration
you can use Touchtone registration or contact Registration at (206)
527-3663 for assistance.
You
receive a message that says You need a registration appointment Another problem that may be
encountered in registering online is that the student registration page
does not recognize your SID number.
This may happen because you number is not enabled in the North
Seattle system. Contact
Registration at (206) 527-3663 for assistance.
This message may also occur because your scheduled registration
appointment is at a later date. You
can check on the date and time for your registration appointment by
selecting that option at the Student Kiosk.
I have found a class I want to take, how do I add a Distance Learning
Class?
You can do this at the North Seattle Student Kiosk http://www.northseattle.edu/kiosk/
and select Register for Classes.
You can also
register in person by going to Registration located in the College
Center building on the second floor.
Before coming to campus please confirm your Registration Appointment by
going to http://www.northseattle.edu/kiosk/.
You will not be allowed to register until after your appointed
time.
The class I want to register for is full how do I get on the waiting
list?
Wait list options are found on the North Seattle
web site
http://www.northseattle.edu/enroll/admit/policy/waitlist.htm.
If the class is full you also have the option of going to the
orientation meeting or contacting the instructor to request that they
sign an overload which can be in the form of an email
from the instructor. In
the case of overloads, instructor permission is required to add for all
classes. It is assumed that DL students will not be registering in
person. Please send an email request to your instructor to give
permission for an overload. Your instructor will then send their
permission in the form of an email to registration
arrc@sccd.ctc.edu with cc: to the student. Please be careful to
include the your student's name and SID in your request so your
instructor can send this to Registration.
I want to add a
class after the quarter has started.
After the 4th
day of the quarter and in the case of overloads, instructor permission is
required to add for all classes. Please email the instructor and
request that the instructor email their signature of permission to the
attention of Registration
arrc@sccd.ctc.edu
with a cc.
to yourself. Then contact
your instructor to confirm your registration (Registration will send
your instructor a confirmation of your registration).
You can also
check your online schedule by going to http://www.northseattle.edu/kiosk/
or contact Registration at 206 527-3664 for more
information.
How
can I pay for my Distance Learning class?
It
is possible to pay online when you register just select this
option when you are registering for your class at http://www.northseattle.edu/kiosk/. You
will need to use your credit card for this payment.
At the end of the transaction you will receive an authorization
number and it is important to note this number for future reference. You
can also confirm with the college cashiers office (206) 527-3627.
You can also pay by
check by mailing the payment to North Seattle Community College,
Attn: Cashier, 9600 College
Way North, Seattle WA 98103-3514. Please
enclose a copy of your registration form indicating your fees along with
your check. This will
ensure your payment. You
can also request that the Cashiers office send you a receipt of
payment. If you are able to come to campus to pay your tuition the
Cashiers office is located in the College Center on the second floor
to the south of Registration. Their
office hours are Mon & Tues 7:30AM to
6:30PM. Wed through
Fri 7:30AM to 4:30PM.
Distance Learning also qualifies for financial
aid. You need to
contact the North Seattle Financial Aid office for more information
(206) 527-3688 or on the web at http://www.northseattle.edu/enroll/finance/.
Financial Aid requires confirmation of your enrollment. You can do
this by contacting your instructor in person for a signature.
(This can be done at the class orientation.) You can also
contact your instructor via email. When your instructor has
confirmed your enrollment they can contact the financial aid office to
confirm your enrollment. If you are getting financial aid from
another college you need to contact that office for instructions.
It
is very important to confirm your payment of tuition and fees. Tuition
is due 7 business days after you first register or before the first day
of the quarter, whichever comes first.
Failure to do this will cause you to be dropped from your class
and you may not be able to reenroll. For more information on tuition and fees please go to http://sccdweb.sccd.ctc.edu/distance/default.asp?page=tuitionandfees
Also go to Virtual College page http://www.virtualcollege.org/resource/tuition.html
I
am a state employee how do I register?
The policy at North is to allow state employees to register during the
second week of the quarter and get a reduced tuition
for no more than 6 credits. There is always a possibility that the course will be filled
so you need to check on the enrollment status.
You
need to contact the instructor by email explain your situation and
request his permission to register.
If the course offers an orientation session you could get the
instructors permission at this time and then you will
need to wait until the 6th day to register or you will forfeit your
tuition wavier. If you can come to campus with your signed employee wavier to
register that may be helpful otherwise you need to send the form
electronically along with the instructors permission to register
to registration ARRC@sccd.ctc.edu.
