If you use a Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or other web based email account for your
official school correspondence you may need to put the Seattle
Community College (sccd) domain into your "safe list".
This will help insure that any emails from your instructor or the
college will not be filtered into your emails spam folder. It
is also important to periodically check your Span folder especially
if you are expecting an answer from your instructor or a reply from
our e-Learning office.
As an online student your instructor or the college may need to send
you information via your email address. It is important that the
college have your current email address. To update your email
address you will need to go to the North Seattle College web site at
http://www.northseattle.edu click on Online Services then choose
Update Your Address. Please make any necessary changes to your
contact information so that all of your information is complete and
updated.
North Seattle also provides email to all registered students: this
is called a "Collaboration Apps". It includes email as well as
a calendar and a document handling app. This is
connected to your NetID and can be found
on the web.
If you are enrolled in a course that uses a special courseware
such as NSCC ANGEL LMS
or WAOL ANGEL you can find tutorials, troubleshooting and helpful
information by following this
link. North Seattle e-Learning provides in house tech
support for ANGEL.
Some instructors use Moodle courseware and they will provide access
information to students. Users can find out more
information about
Moodle on the web. Some courses use web based sites
such as OWL or Academic Software to deliver course materials and
they provide their own tech support accessed by going to their web
site.
For any courseware used there may be technical issues that could
impact your ability to login and use the software correctly. At the
present time most of the North Seattle online learning technology is
web based. This means that to access your virtual classroom
you will need to use the information provided on the
Registered Students page.
You are provided a URL address and login information to enter your
courseware. It is important to note that if you are on a
network with strong security you may not be able to access your
courseware and you will need to use a computer not associated with a
network or you may have to adjust your personal firewall settings or
virus protection to allow you access.
North Seattle e-Learning courses
require active participation and students need to log into their classes
during the first week of the quarter to avoid getting behind.
Please contact your instructor or our e-Learning office if you
experience difficulty in logging in.
Please Note: For Students registering after the beginning of the quarter due to the various types of software associated with online instruction and their registration requirements, you must require a time allowance of 2 days before gaining access to your Virtual Classroom. This means that when you register after the first day, you must consider that it may be another 2 full business days before you have access to the classroom.
