Web CT (Blackboard - CE.) - Sending attachments with messages

The Attachment option allows you to attach any files on your hard drive to a Bulletin Board or Private Mail message within Web CT.

To attach messages you must first click on Compose and then Compose a new message window will appear.  Any files you want to send to either the Bulletin Board or Private Mail message must be done as an attachment to a Composed Message.

Click on the Attach button in the Compose Message window and the following window will pop up.  To attach files click on the Attach button in this window. 
If you already know the name and location of the file you want to attach you can simply type this in the box. If you do not know the name of the file you want, click on the Browse button to select a local file from your computer's hard drive. Press Continue to attach the file or press Cancel to stop the operation.

When you press Continue the file is attached to your message.  If you want to attach another file you can do this by pressing Attach a second time Browse for the file and again press Continue. 

Once you have attached files you can verify which files will be included in the message by clicking on the List button.

If you want to verify the contents of the file simply click on the hyperlinked file name to view it's contents.  Once you are done click on the List button to return to the attachment listing. 

Click Done to close the "Attach files window" and the files listed will be attached to your message.  If you want to delete an attachment before you have sent the message click on the check box next to the desired file and press the Delete button.

To confirm that you have attached a document you can look in your OutBox or Draft contents which can be accessed by clicking on the Folder button in your Web CT message desktop. (See the picture below)

When you locate the container where your message is stored you can simply click on the message and  the following window will open.  Any message containing attachments will have an Attachments button directly below the Subject line. If you want to confirm that the file attached is the correct file simply click on the Attachments button and a listing of the files will appear.

If you want to confirm that the file has been attached before you send it save this as a draft and then send the message and attachment. 

Please Note: By default, the first attached file is displayed.  To preview another file, simply click on its hyperlinked filename.  To download an attachment, select the radio button to the left of it an press Download.  Press Done to close the View Attachments window.
