EET 160 D1: Introduction to Electricity and Electronics

Short Description: This primarily online course presents a survey of electricity and electronics with hands on lab assignments. This course is designed for persons wishing to know what electronics and electricity is all about and to gain an understanding of how they impact the technology boom in industry. It is an excellent refresher course for persons wanting to get back into electronics or add it to their skills list without spending years to become an expert. It is an excellent course for persons where electronics has intruded into their regular occupation. Career changers should take this course before beginning the electronic or electrical series. The course covers DC and AC electrical, semiconductor, and digital concepts and applications without the rigorous math found in the regular electronics sequence.

How to Start Class:  Email your instructor to introduce yourself, attend any orientation meetings listed in the Class Meeting Schedule, and use the information below to gain access to any courseware that is used in your class. 

Please Note: Distance Learning courses require active participation and students need to log into their classes during the first week of the quarter to avoid getting behind.

Other Instructional Materials: Courseware used is ANGEL Learning: To access the courseware please go to  http://angel.northseattle.edu/default.asp. 

The protocol for logging into your ANGEL 7.4 Learning class account:   
 UserID = your full 9 digit Student ID number.  
Password = first 5 letters of your last name.  (If your last name is less than 5 letters use your full name and do not use any ' or other characters)

Find out more information about using and setting up your computer for ANGEL Learning:go to the Virtual College ANGEL Learning Management System support page.  There are links to tutorials as well as help with technical issues.  Please also see the Washington Online ANGEL LMS student handbook.  "Week Zero" tutorial that will get you familiar with the software. 

  • Starting Fall Quarter 2011 North eLearning courses that use ANGEL are all migrating to one server "ANGEL 7.4" which may have a different URL than your previous courses.  If you have had an ANGEL class in the past (7.3 Server) you may see some differences usually these are fairly minor but the student handbook above will help with questions.

  • It is very important when you log into your Angel account for the first time that you update your email address. Once logged in go to "Preferences/Personal Information. In the "User Profile Editor" you need to enter a current email address in the "Contact Settings". This will insure that auto tech support will be able to reach you.

  • Student accounts will not be available until the first day of the quarter. Registering after the first day of the quarter your account may take 4 hours or more  to be activated.

  • Your ANGEL 7.4 class will be disabled  the Thursday after the end of the quarter.
    At that time you will be able to login to your account but you will lose access to any information that is contained in your course.  If there is any information you wish to retain you will need to download or copy this information before the end of the quarter.  For more information please contact your instructor to confirm the date that your class will be disabled.  

Be sure to deactivate pop-up window blockers on your computer when using ANGEL Learning. For classes using ANGEL LMS, we suggest that you download the free version of Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.  At this time the Safari or Chrome browser are not supported. If you have loaded a special software tool bar such as the Google or Yahoo toolbar this may interfere with your courseware and cause it to not work properly please go to our tech support on Popups and Tool Bars for more information.
