BIOL 130 D1: NW Ornithology (Bird Biology & Ecology)

Short Description:  This fully online course explores your part of the Pacific Northwest on foot or in print. Discover fundamental principles of biology and ecology. This online course uses readings, experiments, and field trips as tools of discovery. Local field trip sites will be available for students throughout the Pacific Northwest. Fulfills the lab science requirement.

How to Start Class:  Email your instructor to introduce yourself, attend any orientation meetings listed in the Class Meeting Schedule, and use the information below to gain access to any courseware that is used in your class. 
Please Note: Distance Learning courses require active participation and students need to log into their classes during the first week of the quarter to avoid getting behind.

Other Instructional Materials: Courseware used is WebCT: To access the courseware please go to  http://elvis.sccd.ctc.edu:8900.  To find out more information about using and setting up your computer for WebCT go to the WebCT Index page. Be sure to deactivate pop-up window blockers on your computer when using WebCT.  
  
The protocol for logging into your WebCT class account: (Starting Fall 2008)  
UserID = your full 9 digit Student ID number.  
Password = your full 9 digit Student ID number.

Please note: Student accounts will not be available until the first day of the quarter. Registering after the first day of the quarter your account may take 24 to 48 hours to be activated.  To insure that WebCT will work with your computer check your settings.

For classes using an online component, we suggest that you download the free version of Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and use one of these browsers whether or not AOL is your Internet Service Provider. Otherwise, if you are using the AOL browser, the built in shortcuts may cause problems with most North Online course tools. If you have loaded a special software tool bar such as the Google or Yahoo toolbar this may interfere with your courseware and cause it to not work properly please go to our tech support on Popups and Tool Bars for more information.
