ENGL 151: Creative Writing
(formerly ENG 151)

Short Description: This fully online course focuses on reading and writing fiction, poetry and drama with emphasis on effective elements and techniques. In this course, students will write both fiction and poetry, and will have the choice, as the quarter continues, of focusing on either genre. This is a workshop course, in which student writing is discussed (online) in order to be revised into brilliant and polished pieces. The course emphasizes both generating new material and revising it, focusing on discovery, creativity, technique, language play, and writing beyond what was originally thought possible. Students also read and discuss published poets and fiction writers, exploring their work for interesting techniques and approaches.
